How do I install MAXguard® spike strips?
Use only the following adhesives found in most home improvement stores:
• Loctite® PL® Premium™ Polyurethane Construction Adhesive
• LePage® PL® Premium™ Polyurethane Construction Adhesive
• Liquid Nails® Brand Polyurethane Construction Adhesive (LN-950)
• Liquid Nails® Brand Granite & Marble Adhesive (LN-933)
**Note Adhesive may not be compatible with composite wood products.
Steps to install:
1. Clean mounting surface of dirt and debris.
For chain link fence: Remove tie wire along top-rail
2. Apply a single bead of adhesive centered along entire length of strip.
Always follow the adhesive manufacturer’s guidelines and instructions listed on the adhesive package.
3. Position strips firmly into place
For chain link fence: Replace tie-wire over and around top-rail and spike strip, and install a screw into each end of the top-rail of the chain link fence to keep rail from turning.
4. Allow to cure. Installation complete!
Do MAXguard® spike strips come in colors?
Our strips are molded in light gray. However, if you desire, you may paint the strips to match your desired décor. See, Can I paint the spike strips, below for additional information.
What types of fences and walls can I use with the MAXguard® spike strips?
MAXguard® can be used on most walls and fences made from brick, block, stone, concrete, wood, vinyl, and metal. **Note some wood composite materials may not be compatible with the recommended adhesive.
What are MAXguard spike strips made of?
Each strip is made of high strength, UV protected PVC with 1-1/2 in (3.9 cm) high, blunt tip, metal spikes.
What if I need to cut a MAXguard spike strip to size?
MAXguard spike strips may be cut using any fine tooth saw.
Can I use mechanical fasteners such as nails or screws instead of adhesive?
Yes. This product is designed to be used with the recommended adhesive **Note if nails, screws, or any other type of mechanical fasteners are used, each fastener location must be pre-drilled with the appropriate hole size that matches the chosen fastener. Failure to pre-drill or the over-tightening of the fastener may result in damage to the product.

Do I need to prepare the fence / wall surface for the adhesive?
Yes. Clean mounting surface of dirt and debris. Always follow the adhesive manufacturer’s guidelines and instructions listed on the adhesive package.
Can I paint MAXguard spike strips?
Yes. Use only paint made for Plastics. Be sure to follow the instructions listed on the paint can or container.
Does MAXguard® offer a warranty?
MAXguard® proudly warrants to the original purchaser a one (1) year limited warranty, that its spike strips are free from defects in material and manufacturing workmanship. If, after inspection, we find that the product was defective in materials or workmanship, we will replace the damaged strips without charge. MAXguard® will replace the defective strips except when damage is caused by any of the following:
1. Improper installation.
2. When liability is limited by the laws of the governing jurisdiction. It is expressly understood that the Company’s liability howsoever caused shall be limited to the purchase price paid for the spike strips in question.
Conditions not covered by this warranty: This Warranty covers defects in material and/or manufacturing of the plastic parts. It does not cover failure of, or damage to, such products resulting from faulty or improper installation; settlement or failure of any structure on which the product(s) is installed; settlement or soil movement; misuse; intentional or negligent acts or damage; fire, wind, flood, hail, lightning, or other acts of God; improper care or failure to provide reasonable and necessary repair to the product; normal and expected weathering of the surface*, mildew, exposure to harmful chemicals, vapors or acid rain and surface discoloration due to atmospheric pollution.
This warranty does not apply to installation adhesive or hardware supplied.
This warranty does not apply to damage incurred by any carrier.
* Normal weathering is defined as exposure to ultraviolet light and extremes of weather and atmosphere, which will cause any colored surface to experience changes.
